Independent Living Skills (ILS)
As a participant in our Independent Living Skills (ILS) program, adults aged 18 years and older enter an empowering environment tailored to their needs. Whether currently living independently, in a family home, assisted living facility, or considering a transition from a group home, this program focuses on equipping participants with essential life skills while supporting the maintenance of existing skills.
Guidance and Support
Under the guidance of a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP), participants embark on a journey to master various aspects of independent living. The DSP assists with self-care routines, financial management, maintaining a tidy and organized living space, and shopping and running errands.
Health and Safety Focus
Priority is given to health and safety, both at home and in the community. The DSP ensures understanding and management of emotions, effective communication skills, problem-solving abilities for everyday challenges, and accompaniment to significant appointments, such as doctor visits, with adherence to medical instructions.
Community Engagement
Beyond practical skills, the ILS program emphasizes social integration and fostering a sense of belonging within the community. It focuses on nurturing friendships, cultivating harmonious relationships, and exploring welcoming community spaces to meet new people.
